November 14th

In the afternoon, the German high school students taking part in the exchange program in Marugame visited Shioya Betsuin to experience a Buddhist ceremony called Hōonkō, dedicated to gratitude and remembrance.

Before this visit, the students had taken two classes at the high school, including a history lesson specifically devoted to the past of Shioya Betsuin. This lesson was taught by Mr. Tamura, a high school teacher specializing in the history of the Shioya Betsuin internment camp, and was attended by Ms. Ōkubo from the Marugame International Exchange Association. There they learned that, during the First World War, the temple served as a camp for German prisoners of war. After the fall in China of the German military base of Tsingtao (Qingdao) in 1914, 4,627 German soldiers were taken prisoner and sent to several camps in Japan; among them, 324 were interned in Marugame, in a camp set up within Shioya Betsuin itself, where they lived for more than two years. Despite the wartime context, they were able to engage in sports and cultural activities, especially music, which helped to foster exchanges between Germany and Marugame. Today, this temple is the only former prisoner-of-war camp building from that period still preserved in Japan, and it remains an important place of remembrance.

At the temple, the students then attended the Shioya Betsuin Hōonkō ceremony. The Hōonkō they attended is one of the most important ceremonies in the Jōdo Shinshū tradition. It is a memorial service during which believers express their gratitude to Shinran Shōnin (1173–1263), the founder of this school, and to the compassion of the Buddha Amida. In concrete terms, the ceremony consisted of a period of reciting Buddhist sūtras and hymns (otsutome) in the hondō, the main hall of the temple.

After the ceremony, the group visited Marugame Castle. There, the students observed the architecture of the castle and its stone walls, while enjoying the panoramic view over the city and the sea. By connecting the temple, marked by the shared history of Japan and Germany, with the castle, a symbol of local history, this day enabled the students to gain a deeper understanding of Marugame’s cultural richness and the value of international exchange.

午後、丸亀で交流中のドイツの高校生たちは、感謝と追悼を趣旨とする仏教行事「報恩講」を見学するために、塩屋別院を訪れました。

訪問に先立ち、生徒たちは高校で二つの授業を受け、そのうちの一つは塩屋別院の歴史をテーマにした授業でした。この授業は、塩屋別院の収容所としての歴史を専門的に研究し、高校で教えられている田村先生が担当し、丸亀市国際交流協会の大久保さんも同席してくださいました。その中で、第一世界大戦中、この寺院がドイツ人捕虜収容所として利用されていたことを学びました。1914年、中国の青島（チンタオ）にあったドイツ軍基地が陥落した後、4,627名のドイツ兵が捕虜となり、日本各地の収容所に送られました。そのうち324名が丸亀に送られ、塩屋別院の境内に設けられた収容所で2年以上生活しました。戦時下という状況にもかかわらず、彼らはスポーツや音楽をはじめとする文化活動を行うことができ、これがドイツと丸亀との交流のきっかけにもなりました。現在、この寺院は当時の捕虜収容所としての建物が現存する、日本で唯一の場所であり、貴重な歴史の記憶を伝える場となっています。

塩屋別院では、生徒たちは「塩屋別院報恩講」の法要に参列しました。生徒たちが参加した報恩講は、浄土真宗において最も重要な法要の一つとされています。親鸞聖人（1173〜1263）という宗祖と、阿弥陀如来の慈悲に対する感謝をあらわす追悼法要です。法要では、本堂で経典や御和讃をとなえるお勤めが行われました。

法要の後、一行は丸亀城を訪れました。生徒たちは城や石垣の構造を見学し、町並みや海を一望できる景色も楽しみました。ドイツと日本の歴史的なつながりを持つ塩屋別院と、地域の歴史を象徴する丸亀城の両方を訪れることで、生徒たちは丸亀の豊かな文化と、国際交流の大切さについて理解を深めることができました。

November 13th

As part of their cultural exchange program, the students took part today in several activities aimed at deepening their understanding of the region’s historical and artistic heritage.

They began the day with a visit to Nakatsu Banshōen, where they enjoyed a walk through the garden and appreciated the beauty and serenity of the traditional Japanese landscape.

They then participated in an uchiwa-making workshop, discovering local craftsmanship and creating their own traditional Japanese fan.

In the afternoon, they visited Zentsūji Temple, where they were guided by Mr. Andō, Head of Public Relations at Sōhonzan Zentsūji. During their tour of the Mikagedō, which is a highly sacred hall within the Zentsuji temple complex being the birthplace of Kobo Daishi (Kukai), the founder of the Shingon school of Buddhism, the students took part in an otsutome session — a short recitation of Buddhist sutras. They then experienced the Kaidan Meguri, a symbolic walk in complete darkness, and concluded with the Temple Treasure Hall, which houses valuable historical artifacts.

This day offered the students a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture through art, craftsmanship, and spiritual practices.
All activities took place in a thoughtful and enriching atmosphere, further enhancing their cultural awareness and the quality of the exchange between our schools.

 

11月13日

文化交流プログラムの一環として、今日は地域の歴史や芸術に触れるさまざまな活動を行いました。

午前中は、まず 中津万象園を訪れ、庭園散策をしながら日本庭園の美しさと落ち着いた雰囲気を楽しみました。

その後、伝統工芸であるうちわ作り体験 に参加し、地元の職人技に触れながら、自分だけのうちわを制作しました。

午後には善通寺を訪れました。今回の見学は、総本山善通寺広報主任の安藤様のご案内のもとで行われました。

御影堂の拝観では、「御影堂は、弘法大師（空海）御誕生の地である善通寺の中でも特に神聖な堂宇である」という説明を受けながら見学を進め、まず短いお経の読誦であるお勤めを体験しました。

その後、暗闇の中を進む精神的な修行である戒壇めぐりを行い、最後に貴重な歴史資料等が収蔵されている宝物庫を見学しました。

今日一日の活動を通して、生徒たちは日本の文化を芸術・工芸・精神文化の面から深く理解する貴重な機会を得ることができました。
すべての活動は落ち着いた有意義な雰囲気の中で行われ、両校の交流の質と文化的な視野をさらに広げる一助となりました。

November 12th

This morning, we attended a tea ceremony at Fujii Gakuen, hosted by the Tea Ceremony Club. The German school students discovered a whole new world and thoroughly enjoyed what they saw and tasted. Around 10:00 a.m., we headed to Marugame Port and took a boat to Honjima Island.  After arriving there, We had a bento lunch at a restaurant, then walked to the Kasashima Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.

Under bright, sunny skies, they were amazed by the landscapes they encountered throughout the day.

On the way back, we took an express boat and arrived at the school shortly before 3:00 p.m. The students were delighted with their day.

11月12日

今朝、藤井学園で茶道部主催の茶会に参加しました。ドイツの生徒たちは全く新しい世界に触れ、見たり味わったりしたものを大変楽しみました。

午前10時ごろ、丸亀港へ向かい、本島行きの船に乗りました。到着後レストランでお弁当をいただきました。それから徒歩で笠島重要伝統的建造物群保存地区を見学しました。

よく晴れた空の下、彼らは一日を通して目にする景観に感動していました。

帰りは高速船に乗り、午後3時前に学校へ戻りました。生徒たちは充実した一日に大満足の様子でした。

November 11th

Today, the German school students attended two classes: one in English and the other in Japanese, during which they tried their hand at calligraphy.

At about noon, we took part in a udon-making workshop at the Shikokukan of Udon, where we prepared our own udon and then enjoyed them.

Finally, we visited Konpira Shrine (Kotohira-gū) in Kotohira. In the main hall, a priest kindly conducted a ceremony in honor of our two schools.

Our guests were delighted and felt truly transported by this immersion in a new culture.

 

11月11日

本日、ドイツの生徒たちは2つの授業に参加しました。1つは英語、もう1つは日本語で、日本語の授業では書道にも挑戦しました。

お昼頃には「うどんの四國館」で、うどん打ち体験に参加し、自分たちで作ったうどんをその場でおいしくいただきました。

最後に、琴平町にある金刀比羅宮を参拝し御本宮では、神主のご厚意により、両校のためにご祈祷（式典）を執り行っていただきました。

ゲストの皆さんは、新しい文化に触れるこの体験に大いに喜び、心から感動していました。

November 10th

As part of the Japan–Germany exchange between St. Bernhard-Gymnasium in Willich (Germany) and Fujii Gakuen, 14 German school students arrived in Marugame on November 8th, accompanied by two teachers. Today was the first day of the exchange program. They were welcomed at a reception ceremony. They were introduced to the music club, which featured the traditional instrument psaltery, and enjoyed a performance by the dance club.
They then joined an English class with students from two classes in junior high school, followed by the Eureka Department in high school.
At noon, they had lunch in the school cafeteria. In the early afternoon, the Mayor of Willich, Mr. Christian Pakusch, and Mr. Yasuo Inadome, President of the Japan-Club Willich, delivered speeches.
The group then watched demonstrations by several clubs: Shorinji Kempo, Naginata, and Kendo. Principal Imanishi of Fujii Gakuen also led a hands-on introduction to Kendo, which the students, the German teachers, and the Mayor, Mr. Pakusch, all enjoyed taking part in.
At the end of the day, we paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Marugame.
The students thoroughly enjoyed discovering our school. It was a wonderful day of cross-cultural exchange for the next generation, who came together in a spirit of joy and friendship. As part of this exchange, the group will stay with us for one week.

11月10日

日独交流の一環として、ドイツ・ヴィリヒ市にある聖ベルンハルト・ギムナジウム（St. Bernhard-Gymnasium）の生徒14名と引率の先生2名が11月8日に丸亀に到着しました。本日は、交流事業の最初の日です。まず、歓迎セレモニーでお迎えし、伝統楽器「プサルター」を用いた演奏や、ダンス部のパフォーマンスを見学しました。
その後、中学校で２コマの英語の授業、次にユリーカコースの生徒と一緒に英語の授業を体験しました。
昼食は学内の食堂で取り、午後のはじめには、ドイツ・ヴィリヒ市のクリスティアン・パクシュ市長とヴィリッヒ日独協会（Japan-Club Willich）会長の稲留康夫氏よりご講演をいただきました。
続いて、少林寺拳法・なぎなた・剣道など、各クラブの演武を見学し、藤井学園の今西理事長による剣道の体験指導も行われ、ドイツの生徒・先生方、そしてパクシュ市長にもご参加いただき、大いに盛り上がりました。
夕方には、丸亀市長を表敬訪問しました。
来校した生徒の皆さんは、本校の魅力にたくさん触れ、たいへん喜んで若い世代同士が笑顔と温かな雰囲気の中で交流する、両国の生徒にとって意義深い一日となりました。なお、ご一行は1週間の滞在を予定しています。

１１月１０日（月）ユリーカホールにて講演会を行いました。

前半はドイツ・ヴィリッヒ市長であるクリスティアン・パクシュ氏より講演をいただきました。政治について、英語でのスピーチだったので、生徒たちにとっては自分の英語の力を試す良いきっかけになったと思います。

講演の後半では、ヴィリッヒ市日本クラブ会長である稲留（いなどめ）康夫氏にドイツの地理や歴史を日本語とドイツ語でお話しいただきました。講演の最後には夢を持ち続けることと、若いうちから海外に目を向けることを大切にしてほしいとメッセージをいただきました。実際に４０年間ドイツでお仕事をされている稲留さんのお話を聞き、生徒たちも海外留学に興味を持ったようです。最後には記念撮影を行いました。

１１月８日（土）より１１月１５日（土）までの１週間、本校が姉妹校提携を結んでいるドイツの聖ベルンハルト・ギムナジウムより１４名の留学生をお迎えしています。少しでも早く安心して学校生活を送ってもらいたいという思いから、１１月１０日（月）に歓迎会を行いました。中学校プサルター部の演奏でスタートした歓迎会は、中高ダンス部のパフォーマンス、藤井高生による学校生活についての英語でのプレゼンテーション、留学生による学校の時間割やドイツの年中行事などの英語プレゼンテーションと、盛りだくさんの内容でした。どの発表も生徒のみなさんがこの歓迎会に向けて、一生懸命練習したことがよく伝わってきました。おかげで留学生も、藤井中高生も笑顔で歓迎会を終えることができました。最後にはサプライズで旗のプレゼントもいただきました。ありがとうございました。留学生のみなさん、これから１週間、どうぞよろしくお願いします。

１１月５日（水）に１年生を対象に交通安全教室が行われました。

今回は、登下校時の安全意識を高めることを目的に、交通安全に関する映像を鑑賞しました。映像では、自転車事故や歩行中の事故の原因、ヘルメット着用の大切さなどが具体的に紹介されていました。映像の視聴後には、自転車シミュレーターを使って３名の生徒が交通マナーの体験を行いました。交差点での一時停止や安全確認など、実際の運転に近い体験を通して、交通ルールを守ることの大切さを改めて実感することができました。

生徒からは、「自分も気をつけようと思った」「ヘルメットをしっかりかぶって安全に走りたい」などの感想が聞かれました。今回の学習を通して、交通安全への意識がさらに高まりました。これからも、安全に登下校できるよう心がけていきます。

令和７年１１月４日(火)　全校朝礼にて、賞状伝達が行われ、校長先生からは「モラル」についてのお話があり、生き方や普段の行いについて、もう一度良く考えさせられる良い機会となりました。また、生徒指導部から、冬服の着こなしについてお話がありました。寒くなってきました。ルールを守ったうえで、気温や体調に合わせ、自分で服装を考えていきましょう。
